And why was the peacemaker Jimmy Carter unable to smooth over things with the Islamo-facists back in the 70's...

He and the Democrats clearly think that they have all the answers now.

Also, what happened during Carter's Presidency that suddenly gave the Islamo-facists the idea that Terrorism pays?

Before Carter, the only terrorists where the Commie-wantabes that would occasionaly hijack a plane to Cuba. After Carter, hostage taking, bombings, and all sorts of other terrorism springs up all over the Middle East. Yes sir, that Carter shure brought peace to the Middle East!
