The evolution of life, on up the ladder.

The evolution of Earth and life as we know it is described in detail here, at least until humans emerged. Although I dislike setting dates, continuing the ladder from the more-or-less present into the future we might guess that the pace increases with the following:

The Era of Biological Life (3800 Myr - Present)

- Selective breeding of domestic plants and animals, starting AD 1750.
- Industrial revolution AD 1800.
- Industrial globalization, starting AD 1950.
- Genetic splicing of domestic plants and animals, human genome mapping starting AD 1995.
- Information technology globalization, starting AD 2000.
- Genetic splicing and improvement of humans, starting AD 2020.
- Hubbert Peak of fossil fuels production, starting AD 2030.
- Discrete cybernetic aids and implants, starting AD 2050.
- Biomechanical implants outmode purely biological organs, AD 2080.
- All non-domesticated plants and animals are extinct, AD 2150.
- Transportation sector collapses, AD 2200.
- Global genetic splicing of humans, starting AD 2210.
- Interplanetary beam energy infrastructure taps Sun's corona, starting AD 2250.
- Nanotech implants mimic and extend biological neurons, starting AD 2500.
- All non-human life on earth is extinct, AD 2600.
- Internal combustion engines become uneconomical, starting AD 2700.
- Cybernets replace entire biological brains, starting AD 2710.
- Outposts are established on major planets and moons in the solar system, starting AD 2750)
- Physical engineering of non-DNA-based post-human bodies and minds, starting AD 2770.

The Era of Post-Human Galactic Life (AD 2770 - AD 3500).

- Resources are tapped throughout the solar system and Oort Cloud, starting AD 2800.
- Non-solid powerplants float on the Sun's photosphere, starting AD 2900.
- Partial cybernets reach Alpha Centauri and self-replicate, AD 2910.
- Identity can be partitioned and span interstellar distances, AD 2915.
- Individuality ceases to have meaning, AD 2920.
- Geometric colonization of the galaxy begins, each outer star system establishing two more every 250 years, starting AD 3000.
- Non-solid substrates begin to replace post-human bodies and cybernets, starting AD 3500.

The Era of the Non-Solids (AD 3500 - AD 18550)

- Non-solid agglomerations allow post-humans to manipulate stellar atmospheres, AD 3510.
- Layers of trapped plasma in stellar atmospheres begin to mimic solid substrate functions, AD 3600.
- Star photosphere's become habitable, AD 3610.
- Migration inwards to superhot stellar cores becomes possible, AD 5000.
- Aliens are found to already inhabit the cores of most stars, AD 5001.
- First Contact, AD 5200.
- Knowledge is traded on the engineering and survival of supernovae, AD 5500.
- Vast non-solid entities span sphere 600 lightyears, reaching Betelgeuse, AD 18500.
- Trade is established with various aliens already inhabiting Betelgeuse inner core, AD 18550.

The Supernova Era (AD 18550 - infinite)

- Conflict over implementation of supernova event leads to eventual compromise, AD 18555.
- Supernova of Betelgeuse, first post-human non-solid agglomeration enters black hole stasis, AD 20000.
- All anticipated supernova in the universe are tweaked, AD one trillion.
- The universe is created anew by the expanding shells of merging black holes, AD infinite
