When the universe stars to dim as the last generation of stars die out (Assuming the Universe will expand forever) intelligent life might be able to restart stars. Perhaps they could turn all of dead star’s matter back into hydrogen and restart the star.
They might, however, see stars as a waste of energy and find another way to get the energy they need to survive. Perhaps they will know how to turn matter into energy in such a way they do not need stars.
I can’t help but wonder if the universe is much bigger than we imagine, and where every enough matter collects, it eventually collapses and Big Bang happen. In the Universe I envision, you could have several Big Bangs going off and several areas where parts of the Universe is fading and cooling.
