Understanding one's enemy is the only intelligent thing to do, and yet neocons believe understanding is agreeing with.
The last thing a neocon wants is for the public to understand. Tell 'em instead that the suicide bombers hate freedom, hate people with material wealth, hate democracy, and that's what drives 'em to commit suicide.
Look at what's happening now. The neocon demonizing has led to actions which have created more enemies and ill-will for the US than could have been imagined a few years ago, wildly surpassing anything the wildest dreams of those who don't like the US.
And there are jingoistic suckers who have to believe, for instance, that the innocent people the US kills aren't mourned by their brethern the way the innocent Americans killed are mourned by us.
They truly believe, in their heart of hearts, that killing innocent people is a viable way to avenge the killing of innocent people.
And for God's sake, do NOT attempt to understand.
The effective demogogues throughout the ages rely upon demonization and jingoism. As have lynch mobs. And Bush. And it works. Read the neocon posters.
