Could turning down this deal between the London company and the Arab company hurt the US
Sure, workers could loose jobs, but I am thinking more out our relationship with the Arab world. Would they not see it as a prejudice against them. I mean, we’ll let a London based company run the ports, but not an Arab company.
Would they say, “Well screw you America. You don’t like us because we are Arab. See how you like us jacking up oil prices.â€
President Bush says the UAE has been great help in fighting terror. If this is true, would we loose an valuable ally?
So, that being said, if America does refuse this deal, and especially if we turn around and give it to a non-Arab foreign country, we better have damn good evidence as to why the selling of the ports to the UAE company was a security risk. Otherwise, we’ll look like we told them no just because they were Arabs.
