A clear and present danger
The unconstitutional acts and the vehement rhetoric of the Republicans in Congress and the administration during the Terri Schiavo debacle brought this country perilously close to a constitutional crisis. Congresds and the President had no business sticking their noses into a private family tragedy that had previously been lawfully and constitutionally adjudicated by both state and federal courts. The American people saw through the ruse and recognized Republican Party pandering to the zealots of the ultra-conservative Christian right wing.
