BTW, there are 2 kinds of orbits a CEV could reach: the equatorial but also a polar one....That would enable a Lander to reach either one of the poles and aren't these places considered the most interesting?

But ok, let's imagine even a Apollo redux doesn't sell...
There's always LEO a space station, international cooperations, daring space entrepreneurs willing to share some room in the station...

Maybe the most important new thing isn't so much going to the Moon as making manned access to space (which means LEO) more sustainable (cheaper, safer) and the CEV should be a step (among others) on the right direction.
