Some group posted posters of MLK with crosshairs on his forehead at OSU....
Was I wrong, at age 15-16 to pull them down?
In your example, well I think the protest was offensive-probably pushed the separation of religion and state, but if they had permission and it was legal then they had the right to have their protest unmolested.... Those that tore it down should be held legally responsible. Too many on the left AND the right believe that if their cause is 'just' then they can break the law....
The thing is, MANY people broke the law during the civil rights era... sit ins, marches, etc... I doubt most sane people think of them as criminals today- most rightly consider them heroes... what these current day "radicals" seem to forget is that Americans don't empathize with cowards... Let them do their vandalism in daylight and then 'sit-in' in protest- at least then some might believe in their dedication....
No, they are just cowards.... devoted to action, but not sacrifice- that is why they will remain just an annoyance... just like the anonymous snipers and bombers and fake anthrax mailers on the right....
You dont start a popular movement by acting with cowardice... maybe violence sways a few... but seeing crowds willing to peacefully go to jail for standing up for what they think is right- well, that makes people really think about your position.....
