I suscribed to the "Atomic Bulletin" for years. They exposed the incompetence of the government and the regulatory agencies that allowed nuclear power plants to produce energy and not be responsible for their pollution.
They screamed loudly and didn't get very far. Those problems still exist. Profit is the number one motivator for these companies, and without strick rules or better policing, they will be against further development of these technologies. Our nuclear waste is a bug-a-boo no-one wants to deal with.
Profit has won over common sense over the years, and now we get to pay the price for our oversight. Allowing American car manufacturers to develop and market all these big ass trucks and SUVs while KNOWING 30 years ago we were going to be facing an oil crisis, is irresponsibility.
But the car companies were backing up the oil companies, and vice versa. Go figure. And now we pay the price for this "oversight". LOL
