By the way, this should be on Off Topic or Community as it's bound to bring out nostagia in other Zoners. We save FLAME! for those times when we KNOW something is going to upset us, or each other.
Your topic is more like Fun.
Ahh....the 60's. I don't know if I'd go into that much depth (not enough time right now), but I had a similiar awakening in the mid-60's. My first boyfriend and childhood sweetheart moved to town in 1964, and right into my highschool. He was from Newcastle origianlly but had been living in Liverpool, just as the Beatles were making their American appearance, and he had long hair and beatle boots and a thick British accent. I was the perfect mod chick with long, straight hair (I used to iron it), and mini-skirts with boots. We were quite an item back then.
A year later, I was the Canadian president of the Rolling Stones Fanclub and went to see them in Buffalo at the tender age of 15. (And my mom let me go.....which is even more amazing!) Seven rows back. I was in love with Mick Jagger, the musician and artist. He had Elvis all beat to hell, and those huge lips of his used to wrap right around the mike.
He used to stir something primal in me. My moniker back then when I wrote poetry was "Phelge."
That's all I have time for right now. Wait until the others weigh in.....and what were you Zoners doing in 1965??
