Ah, you did note, but obviously disregarded, "Jefferson is accused of a felony." The operative part of your observation is "accused." Apparently you interpret the Constitution to be based on allegations, inuendo and supposition. This is surprising coming from a self-described Libertarian. Libertarian ideology holds to a strict interpretation of the Constitution and holds great issue with those viewing the document as a living document to be interpreted with the times.
Apparently you have abandoned the Libertarian concept in favor of a "whatever goes" stance as a pro-Bush Republican. I take back any charges I may have leveled on you for dogmatic consistancy. Where you used to dance the side-step, you now have learned to do the waffle.
The time to search Jefferson's places of dwelling and work are only after he has been charged, taken into custody etc. We really don't have a pre-crime police yet-unless this is a new provision of the Republican Home Security regulations.
Remember the old saw about being innocent until convicted? Apparently not.
