One of the weird things that has happened is that today's analogs of the Nazis have succeeded to a large measure in branding the forces of democracy and tolerance as "Nazis" and styling themselves as "Freedom Fighters".
These latter-day Nazis include consist of the various Muslim extremist factions, including Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, Jihad, etc. They have twisted reality in order to paint the USA, Western Europe, and especially Israel as fascist countries, whereas they, themselves, are todays' Nazis.
