Has anyone charted the amount of energy the average citizen expends...
...over the decades, and going back to say 1800? How steep is the line?
There are plenty of resources out space. And there is plenty of energy to harvest. So, when the average earthbound human harnesses 100 or 1000 times what we harness now, won't space colonization be, de facto, do-able?
