THOSE were revolutionary times.
We haven't had anything like them since.
Most of these people are grandparents now. I like those ads on TV for Ameriprise Financial (sp) where they use some of the old music ("Gimme gimme some lovin'") to catch your eye and ear.
The Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the whole parade of British and American groups that did US tours and outdoor concerts.
I worked at a place in Yorkville Village in Toronto in the 60's that was a cool hang out for musicians. One of the hottest places there. You never knew who you were going to run into. I remember Jimi Hendrix, James Taylor, Frank Zappa, Leon Redbone, Joanie Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, Robbie Robertson (The Band, Big Pink), Marshall Tucker, David Clayton Thomas of Blood Sweat and Tears (an old boyfriend of mine) and a host of others. Also we had all the budding young Canadian comedians that eventually ended up on Saturday Night Live. Dan Acroyd, Mike Meyers, Martin Short, Paul Shaffer, Phil Hartman, all coming down for their espressos over the weekend and cutting up with the hip DJ's from the local radio station. Regis Philbin used to come by as well, ALWAYS dressed in a suit. He looks the same today as he did back then.
One night Led Zeppellin dropped by to play a free concert and it was advertised on CHUM FM radio. WHAT a night! What a time! What a cool place to work!
