Bye bye Pluto!
Just saw Horizon on BBC2 about demoting Pluto.
The reason why it's so difficult to demote Pluto is because once it was discovered in 1930, the scientific community rested on its laurels and didn't bother to keep searching anymore (after all, the US, the rising power, had finally discovered its planet)....60 years of not bothering were finally ended by Jewitt en Luu when after looking for 2 years in difficult conditions, hardly any funding, they discovered 1992 QB1.
