Space/Science » in reply to Bye bye Pluto!

This American doesn't have a problem with demoting Pluto.

In my eyes, Pluto is one of many large Kepler Belt objects. These objects are composed largely of ices. I would group these Icy worlds together according to their sizes. You have large ones like Pluto and small ones like comets. They are similar to their Asteroid counterparts in many ways, except for their composition.

Speaking of Asteroids, I think we should also split them into at least two categories- the large ones like Ceres and Vesta, and then all the smaller ones.

I am all for grouping worlds together by size and composition, regardless if they are a planet or not.

Something like this;

Metal Mercury
| Ceres Earth
Composition |
Rock Moon
|
|
Ice Enceladus
|
| Jupiter
Gas
Small________Medium____________Large
Size

Whatever we call Pluto, Pluto is what it is.
