re: Converging points of views
What I found stricking in the documentary was that it agreed very much with what I had heard and read previously from french sources.
That the british and the french would agree on something is pretty rare.
In the historical context, Ceres, Pallas, Juno and Vesta were discovered before Neptune and until then had been called planets. After, they were called minor planets and later, asteroids.
Pluto was discovered by an american, so it became deeply ingrained in american culture, especially with so much time passing by.
In the show, Neil De Grasse Tyson is also interviewed and he has a hard time with teachers and pupils who want to keep Pluto as a planet, but he defends his position.
