OK, not being facetious anymore:
If I don't want my tax dollars going to this or that purpose, does it mean the government is stealing those dollars from me?
No, of course not. It's part of the cost of maintaining the system in which we live.
The family that's in danger of being devastated by medical costs, or of becoming homeless because of a lay-off, is not the problem. They aren't thieves. Helping them is part of the cost of maintaining the system in which we live.
The guy who took what's-his-nuts chainsaw--yeah, he's a thief. But to equate him with people who are down on their luck and turn to legal and legitimate venues for help...well, that's pretty small.
