Re: The Metaphysics of Contemporary Theft

I'm not "equating" them. Neither was Hanson. This is why the title was about metaphysics.

The cost of "maintaining the system" is approaching infinity. It's not physically possible for everyone in a country to live off the taxpayers. Watch what's happening to Greece. That's our endgame. A society trained to believe that they are entitled by law to whatever they need. Greece is going to burn. Someday, so will we.

You are aware that America already spends hundreds of billions on health care for the poor and elderly? Is this not enough? In 1965 (back when my Dad could leave a saw on the lawn and his car unlocked) federal health spending was about 2 percent of the budget. Today, it's at 25 percent, and by 2016 it's going to be at 30 percent. You can look up the other social programs, or education. If social spending is the key to happiness, why aren't we in paradise? We have never had more wealth redistribution in this country than we have now. All for benevolent and kindly reasons, of course. Why isn't it working? Why are we told we can't step back one single inch from where we are now when we used to be miles back and had arguably better results?
