Nice catch, but you didn't think of the logical test for that assertion: Asking the Oracle at Google positive questions.

Before I describe the results, I should explain a refinement to my OaG technique: Adding a term excluding the opposite (prefacing with "-"), to filter out pages which mention both Republicans and Democrats and we thus can't be sure which one was being insulted. This forms a sort of lexical "high-pass" (derivative) filter showing only pages which insult one party specifically:

41,800 for "Republicans -Democrats shitheads"
927 for "Democrats -Republicans shitheads"

Enhanced filtering thus reveals that more Republicans are shitheads than Democrats by an awe-inspiring factor of 45!

The positive questions:

2,100,000 for "Republicans -Democrats smart"
3,350,000 for "Democrats -Republicans smart"
: Democrats are 60% smarter than Republicans

4,930,000 for "Democrats -Republicans nice"
3,280,000 for "Republicans -Democrats nice"
: Democrats are 50% nicer than Republicans

And finally, to cut to the chase:
24,100,000 for "Democrats -Republicans good"
13,600,000 for "Republicans -Democrats good"
: Democrats are 77% all-around gooder than Republicans

The Oracle at Google has spoken.
