There's a reason the natives called it the missionary position.
It is not the favored position among all cultures. I'm certain it was not universal among early hominids either. You have to take glib statements from "behavoral sciences" types with a grain of salt. Most are Europeans and have a Eurocentric bias; which includes a peculiar inability to to visualize other peoples doing things differently than they do.
