You may have it right in that: I am busy fitting all this stuff into theological belief system, but if so, then it is all subconscious behavior.

After saying that, I should point out that your "chase" is following a wrong path.
The following would be closer to the intended outcome.

Alien objects on the moon? If so -There ARE aliens!
Nuclear reactors? People do not understand the hidden dangers!
Aliens? Some other of God's creations living next door!
Physics? God made it possible by creating the universe!
UFO's? Let's make one!
