Looking at that picture again reminds me that I was lucky enough to have seen that spacecraft sitting on the floor of the assembly room at Hughes Aircraft while they were building it. Mind you I didn’t get to work on it but would spend my lunch hour walking over to that building and walking along the balcony overlooking the assembly area. I was also lucky, years later, to be working in the lab next door to where they disassembled the camera after they brought it back from the moon. I would occasionally take a peak through a window to watch them work on it. And again later went to a company seminar where they described their findings. Lucky as that was I would have rather been able to work on it, but alas all I did was work briefly on a piece of ground equipment that went to JPL for the flights.
