I pictured more of a tall enclosed boardwalk passing around the site. The Apollo 11 site will probably have a big tourist building there one day, where tourist can view the site from a large Window.
Mars will be interesting. Imagine being a tourist following one of the MER journeys.
If Mars is ever terraformed, some of the historical sites could be underwater. At the very least, they’ll be able to move the hardware into museums. But maybe, since those sites would be in shallow water, they could enclose them in domes or surround them with levees before Mars is terraformed.
