The sad part is that we really need gas to be expensive to give idiot Americans incentives to buy and drive economical vehicles.

The trick is to ensure that some of the record profits get back to the public instead of a just a few individuals that are already stinking rich. Some form of windfall profits tax should be instituted when situations like this occur. I'm not against corportations having profit incentives. Basic free enterprise helps us all but things always have this tendency to get out of hand because of human greed.
