I've heard you make that point before, and I failed to make it clearly myself. What I was alluding to is the similarity between this slant and the anti-science/anti-rationalist bias of the arts which is one of my pet peeves, and which I don't doubt you've noticed yourself as well. I was trying to make the point that there is a reason for this, and that it is cultural.
I don't mean to particularly slam artists, either. I find the arts and their practitioners more personally interesting and appealing than I do the world of commerce and the commercially oriented personality, just as a matter of personal preference and taste. I believe many other techie types also feel rather miffed by this attitude held by some creative people. CP Snow's misleading concept of the "two cultures" was a disservice to modern thought and philosophy: many scientists have artistic and literary skills and interests, while the converse is usually not the case. Einstein and Edward Teller were both musicians, the latter a very talented one. Yascha Heifetz don't know squat about differential equations.
