Tom, the question of the recount only scratched the surface of the improprieties that have later been alleged in the Florida presidential election debacle. A recount isn't going to take into consideration possible voting machine fraud, people denied a place on the voting roles because of manipulation, and many other well-documented cases of intimidation of minority and predominantly Democrat voters.
I have no idea what the outcome of the Florida vote would've been had it been completely fair but I suspect it was a travesty that Bush won there. I still blame Gore for not building up a decisive enough lead to not care about a close Florida vote but the evidence is piling up daily that there's some pretty shady crap the Republicans are pulling in national elections.
