I managed to get it all off without a problem

Used control panel add-delete programs. I seem to recall there is a specific order that the various components must be removed but I think there is a dialog warning if you choose the wrong order.

Not a bad idea to research removal before starting. Obviously, you should not do any file deletions untill you have cleaned any programs thoroughly.
