The activex control for uninstalling Symantec software wasn't available. Sure would be nice if some people kept a closer eye on their website.

Happily they offer files for download that accomplish the same thing. I haven't seen any evidence (yet) that the uninstall didn't work properly.

Am I planning to walk the tightrope without a net, you ask. Nope, I just decided to go with Windows Live OneCare. I figure, what the hell, Gates already owns me anyway...and I've been pretty happy with Windows Defender for some time now. Yeah, yeah, I know...the planet-sized target on Microsoft's back is big enough to spill over onto mine. We'll see how things go.
