One 'defense expert' on BBC News a few days ago suggested that the only way things could get even more farce like would be to ask people to remove their clothes and wear sterile white jumpsuits in which to fly.
The entire current security situation is a disgrace imho. How good are these extra checks at doing ANYTHING when an unclaimed mobile phone starts ringing in the back of a plane mid-flight and vast numbers of items are going missing from baggage during handling.
Every extra security measure, every cancelled flight, every hour in an un-necessary queue is another victory for the terrorists. Every time someone decides not to fly at all.....they're wringing their hands with glee.
