"a minor inconvienance"
1300 flights cancelles in the past week. TWENTY THOUSAND customer bags gone missing....and that's not just someones shoes and clothes, but because of the rules at the time, their car keys, their wash bags, EVERYTHING...missing. And those that get their bags are finding mobile phones, cameras, laptops...all stolen by airport 'security' baggage handlers.
A recent radio headline ""Mid Air Emergency as woman caught on-board with hand cream"."
In another case - a women was forced to taste liquid in her colostomy bag infront of airport security to prove she was not a terrorist.
And get this....you're allowed to carry matches onto a plane. Not hand cream...no no no no...but matches...of COURSE.
Mothers forced to taste their baby milk infront of a security guard to prove that they are not going to detonate themselves mid-air.
I see no reason to have this half and half rule we currently have whereby you can have only a smaller sized piece of hand luggage. What does the SIZE of hand luggage have to do with any of this? Will a 18 x 12 x 6 inch hand luggage size limit stop a terrorist attack that a 24 x 18 x 12 inch size limit would not ( rough sizes, the current limit is about a small laptop bag instead of the mini-suitcases that many use for overnight stops before )
Consider this...all this extra security...body searches on every third passenger...limits on hand luggage.....and this happens.

And don't for one minute suggest that these measures stopped an attack. They didn't. The arrest of 20+ people (some of whom have already been released ) stopped it. We're told on one hand they've arrested the suspects....but that we're going to give you a 6 hours queue at the airport just in case.
They're not checking trains, buses or the tube for this stuff - so one has to ask - is this entire farce about ACTUAL security ( no, as it continues to be breached by children and people with hand cream) ...or simply the appearence of doing something about security.
If they really want to blow up a plane, stopping a child taking their toothpaste onboard a flight isn't really going to change that.
