One a bit more humorously handled . . .
"Donovan's Reef," with John Wayne, Lee Marvin and Jack Warden.
I liked the short bit Edgar Buchanan had toward the beginning, referring to Jack's Doc Dedham role as the new "big he-bull" in the family. I thought the end needed a lot of help with Elizabeth Allen's role, but then it was a time when Hollywood was spanking bad girls a lot, particularly the women.
Overall, a good flick.
