I used geometry, not trig...
...and I found an error. When applying Pythagoras, I mixed the sides of my 30/60/90 triangle. I took the short side as half the size of the hypotenuse, when obviously it must be half the size of the side facing the 60 degree angle. Too many years since high school.
So my latest guess is: 4 divided by rad-5 times r. Does sin (60 degrees) equal 2 divided by rad-5? Trig bewildered me twice and it never stuck in my head very well.
