re: I read Sheldrake, many many years ago

I too, read Sheldrake many years ago, and I also have deep suspicions about him, not the least of which that he offered nothing but ancedotal evidence like his rolling sheep and microbial interlopers. However, to be fair, he did offer several suggestions for rigorous tests, I wonder if anyone followed up on them. I didn't, I had no access to the kind of resources required, although I did attempt to reproduce morphic resonances with software.

I wrote Fortran programs to generate number patterns based on input random number generators utilizing input seed values. My hope was that some evidence of the input patterns would be noticeable in the outputs, or at least, that output patterns would tend to gravitate to standard and repeated forms as the same process was repeated. I saw no evidence that I was getting anywhere, so I gave up. Perhaps I was "too skeptical and dampened the morphic field". Those negative expectations will get you every time.
