Yes indeed
I take a certain personal pride in the fact that I have never progressed beyond several paragraphs of Tolkien, or watched more than about 20 minutes of one of those wretched (and violent) isn't-this-faux-mythology-so-great-and-serious movies. And, I speak as someone who's enjoyed good sci-fi for around 40 years.
Don't mind the Harry Potter movies though - they're a lot of fun.
