"Every time humanity has done something short sighted and self destructive, there have been idiots like you there ignorantly cheering it on..."

I would be interested in posters short lists on this.

For instance, the Silent Spring- it's the scare mongering that resulted a ban on DDT would qualify as something short sighted and very destructive [and with no shortage of idiots cheering/or whining about the end of the world].
The whole communist movement was clear example of short sighted and self destructive.
The anti-nuclear movement is also a good example.

But on the broadest scale, I would say the Materialism coupled with Social Darwinism has been the worst in this regard- which could be briefly summarize as a view the humans lack any soul, and existance is a chance event which favored the "fitest". Which resulted in various leaders having no soul and mass production of murder as some of it's "showcase accomplisments" with mass enslavement being it's greater feat.

Mining oil and driving cars and planes doesn't make it anywhere on my list. And the mass production of steel is on my list as one of the best things to happen to humankind- similar to the invention of the printing press.

But if your view is there is too many people living on earth and killing them off in various ways is the only solution, I can see where we differ.
