Thanks, Daniel, nice thought, but I was across the street and kept quiet. I did consider going over to join them, but then I thought that it would be more important to report on it. There really wouldn't have been anyplace to stand anyway, the sidewalks were packed solid for a half block down the street on both sides of the corner. I figured I'd multiply the protest with a little publicity, rather than just adding one more voice.
BTW, it's not my boat, it was a daytrip whale-watching cruise in the Monterey Bay (down the coast from San Francisco). It was, gosh, ten years ago, now that I think about it. Hair's gotten streaked with a little grey, different glasses, but still essentially the same ol' me. I was wearing the same sweatshirt tonight, coincidentally. I never throw out a favorite until it falls apart ;-)
