Credit where credit is due, the RNC dragged the process into the Internet Age with their innovative BlogTree™ program.
The Message is forumated at the RNC National Message Center in DC each night. By dawn the exhaustively-debugged Message Of the Day is sent out through various channels, notably the one controlled by the RNC Directorate of Blogging, where it's sent to a couple of dozen or so key "opinion leaders" for early posting. The late-rising second-string bloggers, several hundred strong, check their division leader's blog by 10AM daily, and by noon the legion of thousands of "grass roots" Internet activists picks it up, and by early afternoon--voila--there's a message posted on the HabitableZone.
One of the great advantages of this system is the relatively low rate of transcription errors you get from copying-and-pasting digital data. The old PhoneTree system suffered from the Game of Telephone phenomenon, and commanders at HQ could never be sure that The Message was being faithfully delivered to The Faithful. But now, millions upon millions of grassroot Republicans can march in lockstep with nary a missed bit.
That's not the RNC's only innovation. They also pioneered the use of an RSS feed connected directly to a TelePrompter™ at Fox "News".
