I still have magnificent.com registered with Network Solutions, a name that at the height of the domain name frenzy was worth $2-4million (if only somebody had wanted it!). It's uncanny how much personal attention I get--they spend more than $35/year having people call me periodically to "check up" that my registration info is up-to-date. The reason is obvious: Even though the registration is paid up through 2010, f they can claim that they can't contact me they might well be able to grab the name on the basis of a spurious claim that I've abandoned it, and put it up for auction on their auction site, GreatDomains.com. They're gunning for me, and I don't like that feeling. I never recommend Network Solutions to anybody.
