SDF,
Taking away religion from folks who need it is like grabbing a pacifier out of the mouth of a baby. The baby will cry and will start sucking on your finger or anything it can put in its mouth.
Until science defines the soul and can give some meatier insight into the brain, we will still see religions squeeze into the gaps left and the insecure billions will be comforted by religion.
Logic only works with people who have abandoned most emotions. If they still are drowning in animal emotions - they will embrace a religion of one sort or another.
Trying to fight them, or tear away at their security-base is counter-productive.
For you see SDF....once they realize they will starve on a pacifier - they will spit it out of their mouth and actively seek nourishment. And, only at that point, they will be forced to embrace logic/reason & cause/effect. And it will mean that much more to them - because they will have arrived at this awareness on their own.
