Thank you. The Texas Hill Country is beautiful. I hope to retire there.

I have not seen the movie, so I do not know what they showed.

I love the Texas Hill country in the center of the state.

Here is a really nice drive in the central Hill Country, near Fredericksburg

There is a saying that Texas is like another country. That is very true. It is as big as the largest European counties (Not counting Russia), if not bigger. It can be snowing in the Panhandle and sunny and warm in tropics of South Padre Island.

The geology, climate and terrain vary quite a bit across the state.

East Texas has rolling hills covered with thick piney forest. It is a wet climate.

There is the flat coastal planes.

There is the prairies and hardwood forest that run from Dallas down to the Mexican boarder.

There are the limestone and granite hills of Central Texas. Here you have clear river and lakes, huge old oaks and a dry climate.

You have the tropical climate of south Texas.

There is the High grassy planes of the Panhandle.

There is the Deserts out west.

And then there are the Rocky Mountains out west.

There are also some interesting micro-climates, like Lost Maples, which is the remains of an Ice Age Maple forest that once covered the Hill Country. These are the maples that turn beautiful colors in the Fall. They look like they belong in the North East America, but they are in central Texas

There is the Lost Pines area near Austin. It looks like it should be in East Texas, but it is over a hundred miles away.

And then there are the islands of forest in the West Texas Mountains. Here can be found trees you would find in Colorado, like aspens. Most people are surprised to learn that Texas does have a few aspens in the high mountains. The mountain islands of forest are surrounded by the west Texas desert.
