The Equation:

Average PC Lifespan T has variables.

If children who will use it to surf the web O becomes a numerical percentage: .7 and this becomes O.

So if T=10 and 2 children will use it then 10O or 10(.7)=7 years.

If the computer is hooked up and on 24/7 with DSL or Cable another variable A is added and represents .8

If you use your computer to process huge chunks of data then add another variable S to the equation S represents .7

If you are targeted by malicious virus writers then yet another variable is added t and t represents .5

So 2 kids, always online, heavy processing and malicious virus writers make your computer look like this:

TxOxAxSxt

Your computer is TOASt

10(.7) = 7
7(.8) =5.6
5.6(.7)=3.92
3.92(.5)=1.96

Or slightly under 2 years till your computer is TOASt.
