I think the whole Internet meme started with an article in the Moscow Times literally titled Ukrainian Rebels Channel U.S. Confederates. It was picked up by other outlets, of course, and eventually I encountered the meme on Slate.
As I wrote in the thread on Scottish independence below, I'm open to seeing your "beloved" starz-n-barz fly again, with certain restrictions. Enough is enough. After a 150-year-long tantrum, we get the message: You guys hate America. So go. Don't let the screendoor etc.
