Anyone remember the generation of chips that had a "basic" processor and a second specialist "maths" chip?
Nowadays, you'd just run dual or quad core and do everything on every chip...
But the future of which you dream is well beyond this. I agree that it will come, that the "Luddites" will resist it. But it will come.
