re: I disagree.

A rational person has to be their own "information sheriff" when making decisions.

You always run the risk of working with incomplete or erroneous information, but letting someone else do your thinking for you is worse.

Why would putting someone else's preconceptions in the mix be any better than dealing with your own?

As for a cultural meme "taking over" the press, that's a little over the top, but that there is a cultural and political tilt in much of the old media is not only obvious to most observers, but more importantly, has been shown in several surveys and other more objective sources.

When you tell someone the media is liberal, they often respond, "Oh, yeah? What about Fox News?" Not realizing, of course, what pointing out the white crow implies about the others.

If I quoted only Fox News, or what Rush Limbaugh said one morning, people would rightly give me grief for it. Yet Bowser pretty much lives on MSNBC, and nobody seems to get grief for quoting Olbermann as an oracle.
