"multi-cultural" and "multi-ethnic" are not synonyms.
We have made Americans out of many, many backgrounds. That anyone from anywhere can become an American is one of our most unique strengths.
I could live in Japan my whole life, and I would never be Japanese.
There are some real issues with "multi-cultural," which involve people coming here who refuse to join our society and demand to be allowed to live in their own parallel subculture, but race has nothing to do with it except as a peripheral surface perception.
