A couple of the more obvious ones are to recreate a middle class. Make it possible for a nuclear family to have cohesion AND own a house, take vacations, have health care, be invested in the system.
The start would be to tax the hell out of the wealthy. There is no reason for anyone to make more than 10 times what they need to live comfortably. None.
Use that money to create a healthy infrastructure. Plenty of good jobs would be created providing health care to the 47 million people who don't have it.
Second, make attainment of middle-class goals possible for the disadvantaged. Right now many minorities don't have any hope of a realistic income except by dealing drugs. Then they go to jail. They get out and their employment opportunities are McDonalds and their living options are a crate under a bridge.
That's bullshit. There needs to be a way for everyone to get a piece of the pie. That means that some people don't get too large a piece.
Capitalism is fine, but there needs to be adequate laws to protect labor. Socialism is fine, but there needs to be adequate laws to protect capital. Right now, since the laws can be used to plunder and the plunderers make the laws (as some religious broadcaster said), it's unfairly and shortsightedly tipped in favor of capital.
They are killing the goose which has laid the golden egg.
