re: $600 toilet seats.

I know exactly why the toilet seats cost $600.

The seats were specially designed for a customized space-saving toilet system on the B-52. There isn't much space to go around for such things. They didn't order spares at the time, and as the working lifetime of the B-52 was greatly extended, eventually the seats wore out or broke and more had to be ordered from a production line that had long ago been shut down.

It was not surprising that reopening the line and doing a limited production run cost a lot per seat.

But hey, it makes good copy, don't it?

That there is real waste and abuse in military spending--or ANY government program (wait until they're running our medical system) is true enough.

Bowser has no idea of the history of Halliburton or similar contractors prior to 2000, or the history of government corruption in general, and he really doesn't care. Bush's administration is the most corrupt in history, and if Bowser says so, or his rather limited news sources, that's all it takes to make it true.
