I can accept most of your comment, but if you include a "hard" vacuum as a medium (I don’t know if you do, but I think you should), what would you consider to be a lack of medium?
...And if a "hard" vacuum is to be thought of as a lack of medium, how would we receive sunshine? How could we see the Moon? How could Hubbell ply the Universe and give us such amazing pictures from deep, deep space?
You may be right about the lack of medium, but we have as much chance of creating such an environment as we have of sucking all energy from a lump of coal, to leave behind an inert lump of -- semi-matter. It would seem that to take away the medium, we may need to take away the Universe.
