Tom's poor reply to why we should be able to torture the terrorists because certainly they would do it to us just doesn't stand.
We HAVE to set the example, ..how else can we maintain the high ground internationally?
We can't because we've lost it.

Short of holding Bush, Rumsfeld and Gonzales up on war crimes, we have just taken us back in history more than 100 years and have become LESS civilized. Unless we hold THEM to the standards we have developed and enforced through the Geneva Convention BEFORE this mess, we are no better THAN the terrorists.

What Bush, Cheney Rumsfeld and Gonzales did was open the floodgates to terror and torture, not close them.
